- The Minor Forest Produce (MFP) received definition in 2007 under section 2(i) of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006 as all non-timber forest produce of plant origin such as hones, waxes, stumps, malkangani seed, Tesar cacoon, wild dry mushroom, bamboo and etc.[1]
- State assigned agencies are held responsible for the purchase of minor forest produce (MFP) on minimum support price (MSP).
- The nodal agency for the implementation and monitoring of the MFP scheme – Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
- The MSP of the Minor forest produce (MFP) will be determined by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs with the technical support of the Tribal Co-operative Marketing Federation of India (TRIFED).

The MFPnet portal, launched by TRIFED, was meant to serve as an adjunct and a catalyst for enforcing the MSP for the MFP scheme.
