Who appoints the Members of the State Public Service Commission?

Under Article 316(1), the Governor of the concerned state appoints the Members of the State Public Service Commission (SPSC).

According to Article 316 (1A) of the Constitution of India, the Chairman and Member of the Union Public Service Commission from the date of joining the office till the age of 6 years or 65 years (whichever is earlier) and the Chairman and Member of the State Public Service Commission and Joint Public Service Commission holds office until the age of 6 years or 65 years (whichever is earlier). The Chairman and members of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) can resign to the President and to the Chairman and Member of the State Public Service Commission can resign to the Governor of the concerned state.
